Elaine Fifner graduated cum laude from Cleveland Marshall College of Law in 1979. She received her undergraduate degree from Wittenberg University, graduating cum laude in 1976. During law school Mrs. Fifner clerked at several Cleveland firms involved in medical negligence and probate work. After law school she worked as a judicial law clerk for Judge Krupansky and Judge Markus in the Cuyahoga County Court of Appeals.

Mrs. Fifner worked with a Cleveland firm which specialized in health care law. She left in 1995 to form Douglas K. Fifner Co. L.P.A. with her husband. She is a member of the Ohio Bar Association. Mrs. Fifner is also active in many community activities involving her two children, including leadership roles in local PTAs and the Girl Scouts of America.
